For over a decade, Brandon Sapp has remained dedicated to the art of creativity. A native New Yorker, born in Brooklyn, he gained his insight into Photography at the Washington Irving High School of the Arts, in Manhattan's prestigious Gramercy Park district during the late 1990s. While attending Irving, Sapp was introduced to various diverse forms of art including, 19th Century Fine Art, Typography, Computer Graphics, Early 20th Century Photography, Surrealism, Dramatic Stage Acting and Short Film Making.
His education into the world of photography was molded from the experience of veteran photographers. Luck would have it that, Brandon was fortunate enough to gain an interest in photography just before the digital boom of the late 1990s. This allowed him to utilize the vintage method of capturing images, working with 35mm Black and White film - learning to roll, shoot, process and develop his own images manually. Trained under the tutelage of Master Photographer, Martin Springhetti, Sapp worked to develop and sculpt his skills and passion for the captured image. In 1997, he had the privilege of having his work showcased in the, then, New York National Art Honor Society in Gramercy Park and in the Law Offices of Cleary, Gottlieb, Stein and Hamilton. In 1998, Sapp won a 1st Prize award for a photograph of his classmate which was published in the Irving Times.
Sapp's style has been mentioned as more along the lines of personal and intimate. His passion is all kinds of Photography, and although he is motivated by many avenues, he admires the work of many old and new school photographers, including
Tony Chu,
Eddie Baute,
Gabriele Rigon
and
Edwin Ho to name a few. He loves to capture, not only the physical beauty, but the inner beauty that naturally radiates through the subject he's privileged to work with.
"I have spent more than 10 years in the development of gaining a greater understanding of humanity and the human experience through study of photography. I believe this is a key trait towards my ability to work with all types of people to achieve a set and common goal. I've found that a majority of my successes have been based on the fact that I enjoy the art of creating and providing a different perspective for people who are beginning to venture into modeling, photography or any undertaking in which a person is dedicated towards achieving a definite purpose. I want everyone that I have the pleasure of working with to experience concentrated professionalism while having a great time, sharing ideas and building great relationships."
